Description

Role purpose: To provide legal advice and support to the entire business. Managing all aspects pertaining to legal and corporate law matters affecting the entire business. Support the Legal Department in promoting its objective to provide legal support to the company.

 

 

Key accountabilities and decision ownership 
• Ensure full compliance by the company with all internal and legal obligations in terms of Mozambican law;
• Negotiate and draft agreements, coordinate its sign off process, undertake statutory alterations, including public deeds of alterations;
• Deal with public and governmental institutions in order to obtain licences and necessary official documents;
• Proactively participate in reviewing legislation that affects the business;
• Coordinate litigation issues with courts and external council.      

Core competencies, knowledge and experience
• Excellent drafting skills;
• Good communication skills, both spoken and written in English and Portuguese;
• Good interpretation of legislation an eye for detail to provide sound legal judgment;
• Ability to multitask, work independently with minimum supervision and have strong commitment to ensure deliverables are met in timely manner;
• Minimum 5 years of post-qualified working experience in corporate law, contracts negotiation and business agreements and arrangements.

Must have technical/professional qualifications
• Law degree (LLB);
• Registered with the Bar Association (OAM).

Key performance indicators
• Aggregate volume of legal work is sped up and/or reduced;
• Decreased and more consistent organization risk profile;
• Legal costs remain at level appropriate for business.
