Position Objective

To ensure implementation of all activities of the Mother Mentor strategy with the aim of contributing to the reduction of vertical transmission; and to ensure demand creation, retention of HIV/AIDS patients, TB treatment in the community, in health facilities through the strategy of male engagement and community dialogues.

Main Responsibilities

Ensure liaison between CCS and health programs (PMTCT & EC) at the provincial level;
Support the implementation and monitoring of the Mothers Mentors strategy;
Support in activities related to retention improvement including support, monitoring of mentor mother activities, ensure recording of activities, weekly and monthly reports;
Support in the implementation of the viral load guidelines (coverage of the eligible and follow up of women with VC above 1000 copies);
Train the Mentor Mothers to be able to support pregnant and lactating women, exposed children and children under 10 years HIV positive, in adherence to HIV care and treatment;
Carry out mentoring of the supervising Mothers Mentors;
Promote the involvement of partners and their families in adherence and retention to care and treatment of MG and ML;
Carry out follow-up monitoring of testing of HIV-exposed children with a focus on PCR for children under 2 months, and ensure linkage of HIV-positive children to care and treatment;
Promote the diagnosis of HIV infection and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) of pregnant and lactating women and their sexual partners and ensure initiation of ART for all HIV-positive Mg and ML;
In coordination with the district supervisor, monitor the activities of the field supervisor and the CBOs in carrying out the support activities: community dialogue sessions, male engagement sessions and in the community;
Support and monitor the CBOs in the community implementation of the national strategy for male engagement and community dialogue in all intervention districts;
Provide technical support to the case manager in managing referral and counter-referral guides from the community and in monitoring daily support activities;
In coordination with the field supervisor, monitor the participation of community actors (activist, mentor mother and champion man) in the community health committee meetings and ensure the reporting of the main problems of the US to the field supervisor;
Ensure the link between all the project implementation programs, interacting with all stakeholders in order to bring improvements in the success of their activities;
Carry out all the activities that will be entrusted.
Basic Requirements

MCH nurse (medium level)/Preventive medicine technician/General medicine technician;
Minimum of 2 years experience in maternal and child health or public health and community involvement;
Experience in providing technical assistance and monitoring of HIV/AIDS programs, preferably with emphasis on women and children in the Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission Program;
Experience working with the strategy of mother mentors and community involvement;
Experience in implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programs for a minimum of 2 years;
Capacity in training and capacity building of health personnel;
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook);
Verbal and written fluency in Portuguese and local languages;
Ability to identify needs and direct them to their line manager;
Communication, coordination and teamwork skills;
Ability to work independently and responsibly;
Ability to perform multiple tasks and effectively manage pressure situations.
