Short Description/ Purpose of Job
Save the Children is currently implementing a food assistance activity for the development of a five-year project called Okhokelamo ni Solha, aimed at mobilizing community participation for sustainable improved food and nutrition security and, resilience among extremely poor and chronically vulnerable households and communities in Zambezia.
The District Project Officer(s) He/she shall ensure that contributes to the objectives of the USAID funded “Ökhokelamo ni Solha” project aimed at strengthening the skills, capacity, agency, resilience and confidence of women and adolescent girls, while engaging adolescent boys, husbands, fathers and the community at large for collective action to support them to sustainably improve the nutritional outcomes of children under 2 years of age (CU2) in Zambezia. The officers will have the responsibility to ensure equal access to nutrition services, sexual and reproductive health rights, maternal, newborn and child health.
He/she will be responsible for supporting in the implementation of the project, documentation of lessons learned, preparation of information for reports, as well as participating in the monitoring and evaluation (M & E) of the project.
The Officer will be the focal point for all aspects linked to the day-to-day implementation of the Project and interaction with Community Development Agents (CDAs) at District level supporting in identifying capacity building needs of CDAs, relevant Government officials, Local Organizations and Civil Society to ensure access and quality delivery of SRH, nutrition, maternal, infant and neonatal services in Morrumbala and Derre, Zambezia province.

Qualifications
- Education in Community Development, Nutrition, Maternal and Child Health or related field with solid experience of at least 2 years in similar projects.
Experience and Skills
- Education in Community Development, Nutrition, Maternal and Child Health or related field with at least 2 years of solid experience in similar projects.
- A minimum of two years of community work experience mainly in Nutrition, Sexual and Reproductive Health, MCH, as well as Child Protection;
- Experience working in child protection/health projects implemented in partnership with Health, Education, Youth and Technology directorates;
- Excellent communication skills, oral and written, and the ability to lead, coach and motivate a team and stakeholders;
- Ability to collect information to produce good quality project reports;
Fluency in Portuguese and local languages spoken in Zambezia is an advantage; - A motorcycle driving license is essential and indispensable.
Understanding of community development and issues related to nutrition, sexual and reproductive health and adolescent rights; - High sense of discretion in handling confidential information;
Commitment and understanding of Save The Chidren’s objectives, values and principles; - Knowledge of computer packages (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Email, Internet and other software)
- Knowledge of child rights and rights based development approaches
Commitment to and understanding of Save The Children’s objectives, values and principles, including rights-based approaches.

Essential
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in Portuguese and the local languages spoken in Zambezia;
- Have worked on child protection / health projects implemented in partnership with the Health, Education, Youth and Technology directorates;
- Understanding in community development and issues related to nutrition, sexual and reproductive health and adolescents’ rights;
- Ability to work under pressure;
- Good interpersonal relationships with the ability to communicate and negotiate clearly and effectively at all levels, taking into account cultural and language difficulties.
