Short Description/ Purpose of Job

The Project/Consortium Manager oversees the successful implementation of an integrated education in emergencies project (SAIL) in Cabo Delgado Province, funded by ECHO. S/he is responsible for managing the collective integrated performance of consortium partners (2 international, 1 local) as well as Save the Children’s specific deliverables. The role holder ensures high quality planning, implementation, coordination, monitoring and reporting of the project. S/he contributes actively to program design and adjustments and external coordination with sectoral clusters/ working groups, government ministries and departments, communities, donors and any other relevant stakeholders.

The project includes Education, Child Protection and WASH activities. The project will be implemented in synergy with other projects, specifically with unified Education objectives, as well as Child protection activities. The PM coordinates with partners under the project or other projects in the districts, for the implementation of the project and Consortia partners under the complementing actions/projects. S/he will be based in Pemba with frequent travel to the areas of implementation for relevant meetings and coordination with partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably Master) in social science, business administration or related field.

 

Experience and Skills

Essential

   

  • At least 6 years demonstrated experience managing multi-sectorial implementation of programmes and budgets. 
  • Experience with project management and preferably consortium management with international and local partners, plus donors.
  • Experience with directly managing Education in Emergencies and Child Protection programmes, 
  • Experience living in basic conditions in insecure contexts as well as has the right attitude for the job
  • Previous experience of managing a team 
  • Proven capacity to supervise, train and coach staff 
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Experience of representation, including Cluster coordination, and ability to represent effectively in external forums. 
  • Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy 
  • A high level of proficiency in written and spoken English and Portuguese. 
  • Commitment to Save the Children values, including willingness to abide by and enforce the Child Safeguarding policy. 

 

Desirable: 

  • Previous experience in DRR, inclusion, WASH and inclusion programming
  • Experience of Mozambique context and more so of Cabo Delgado, is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
