Short Description/ Purpose of Job

Key Responsibilities:

The role of the District Health and Nutrition Technical Coordinator is to ensure that projects in their different components are implemented to a high technical standard and in alignment with World Vision’s technical approaches. This includes ensuring that projects and plans are aligned with the strategy and technical approaches of the World Vision Mozambique Country Office, while at the same time ensuring that they are being implemented effectively to improve child well-being. The District Technical Coordinator will provide direct mentoring, training, and support to community groups in the technical area, and will monitor the work to ensure quality in its execution. The District Technical Coordinator will work with Development Officers, who are based in the communities and who lead the community engagement process in each area. The Technical Coordinators also have a key role in dealing with local advocacy issues with District government structures, and ensuring technical standards in emergency responses.

He/She will be based in the District of Maganja da Costa.

Qualifications and Skills

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (e.g. nursing) in relevant field; have a training in health and nutrition, or similar fields.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to community development and working with marginalised people.
  • Knowledge of community health and nutrition in the Mozambican context.
  • Good understanding of project design and planning processes
  • At least 5 years’ experience of working on health and nutrition or similar projects.
  • Have experience in managing health and nutrition projects, or have provided technical support to projects, or even taken on the task of technical advisor.
  • Experience in capacity building in the area of health and nutrition such as training and mentoring.
  • Motorbike licence
