Short Description/ Purpose of Job

Introduction
Oxfam is an international development and humanitarian aid organisation committed to fighting social injustice, the basis of poverty, and has been active in Mozambique since the 1970s.

The project is implemented using a partnership approach, through which Oxfam allies itself with the ideals, objectives, experiences and practices of its partners, for which it mobilises financial resources and the technical and methodological support necessary for the successful implementation of its activities.

With a view to guaranteeing the proper application of vehicle management procedures as well as supporting the implementation of the project by transporting goods, documents and people to different points in accordance with the programme, it is intended to hire a driver based in Cuamba (Niassa) to support the programmatic part of the project as well as helping with the administration and basic organisation of the Oxfam and partner offices in Cuamba.

General objective

To provide administrative and transport support in the execution of field activities within the scope of Project Implementation.

Specific objectives

To ensure the proper application of vehicle management procedures in accordance with Oxfam’s rules and procedures in Mozambique,
Support and assist in the administration (logistics) of Oxfam’s trips.
To transport goods, services, documents and people to different points in accordance with the programme.

Results

Reduced the administrative and driver work done by the Project Coordinators, Project Officer and Finance Officer, Administrative Officer.
Ensured the proper application of vehicle management procedures according to Oxfam’s rules and procedures in Mozambique,
Reduced the cost of taxi services.

Duties

Ensuring vehicle maintenance such as checking the oil level, fuel, tyre calibration and water level, working according to hygiene, safety, quality and environmental protection standards.
Transporting visitors between airport-hotel and vice versa, as well as the project team and others to the project implementation site or another location determined by the line manager and the project and finance officers,
Carry out general duties as directed by the line manager, duties related to the logistics of the office in Cuamba,
Keeping proper records of vehicle service schedules,
Ensuring that the vehicle’s maintenance records are up to date and that they are carried out regularly.
Ensuring that the vehicle is well maintained and reporting any incidents or anomalies immediately to the line manager.
Be available and able to work to the project schedule.

Requirements

  • Valid professional driving licence
  • 2 years’ experience
    Extensive knowledge of Niassa Province
    Knowledge of defensive driving
    Basic knowledge of mechanics
  • Basic computer skills
    Communication skills and ability to interact effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Languages – Fluent in Portuguese, knowledge of English and ability to speak the local language is an advantage.
  • Good personal communication skills, in written and verbal Portuguese.
  • Knowledge of English is advisable
  • Ability to represent Oxfam in a professional and competent manner.
  • A high level of self-awareness, personal energy and flexibility.
  • Ability to work creatively, effectively and under pressure
  • Be a team worker
