Short Description/ Purpose of Job

1) MEAL Coordinator – Delpaz Project (Tete)

The MEAL Coordinator will ensure the effective and efficient implementation of the Save The Children MEAL system in the DELPAZ project, implemented in the districts of Moatize, Tsangano and Doa in Tete Province. Your support to the projects will be crucial to ensure that quality standards and learning are adequately integrated into project implementation.

The Coordinator will support the project team in strategically adapting activities to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of the programme. He/she will provide technical support to the programme team to ensure that monitoring tools are established and the team is trained to make proper use of them. The post holder will make regular assessments of data quality and promote evidence-based decision-making. He/she will provide technical assistance during the design and implementation of studies, research, surveys and evaluations, helping the project to develop clear terms of reference and overseeing data collection processes. He/she will lead the implementation of the accountability system at project level, through information sharing, participation and functional feedback mechanisms. Through the learning agenda, he/she will promote the continuous documentation of experiences and good practices for adaptive management and use to improve results.

Qualifications

  • Minimum degree level in social sciences, statistics, development or related areas;

Experience and Skills

Essential

  • At least 4 years’ experience working in MEAL, implementing effective M&E systems;
  • Demonstrable record in data collection and analysis, with the ability to support staff and partners in M&E methodology, analysis and dissemination of information to a variety of stakeholders;
  • Advanced computer skills, primarily in Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Software skills in the use of mobile data collection (Kobo, ODK or others) and data analysis software (e.g. SPSS, STATA);
  • Excellent planning, team coordination and communication skills, with the ability to organise a substantial workload consisting of several complex tasks and responsibilities;
  • Proven ability to supervise, train and mentor staff;
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, with experience of working in a team orientated towards multicultural, multi-location values;
  • Willingness to work and travel in often difficult environments;
  • Committed to the values and principles of Save Children International, in particular a good understanding of the organisation’s mandate and approach;
  • A high level of writing and speaking skills in Portuguese and English;
  • Good personal organisational skills, including time management and the ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a similar position;
