Short Description/ Purpose of Job

Position Objective

Responsible for ensuring the driving, maintenance, and safety of Pathfinder International vehicles, and for transporting goods and people with the desired level of safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strictly follow Pathfinder International’s transportation regulations.
  • Ensure that Pathfinder International’s vehicle safety policies and procedures are followed by passengers.
  • Safely transport authorised personnel.
  • Ensure that vehicle documents are always in order and inform the supervisor if otherwise.
  • Adhere to the organisation’s safety regulations and speed limits.
  • Comply with all the rules of the road traffic code in force.
  • Attend to all transportation needs according to the assigned schedule, taking the most direct route within a reasonable time frame.
  • Maintain the vehicle’s cleanliness and safety.
  • Check engine oil levels, battery, and fuel every morning before starting the day’s work.
  • Inform the immediate superior or transport supervisor about the renewal of permits three weeks before their expiration.
  • Notify the supervisor in advance when the vehicle’s scheduled maintenance is approaching.
  • Record all daily activities in the designated logbook or map.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the immediate superior.

Basic Requirements

  • Secondary education.
  • At least 5 years of experience working as a driver in an organisation.
  • Ability to relate to people of different nationalities and backgrounds.
  • Valid professional driving licence.
  • Excellent eyesight given the nature of the tasks to be performed.
  • Good health given the nature of the tasks to be performed.
  • Motivation and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks related to assigned duties.
  • Written and spoken communication in Portuguese.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in an international NGO is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of the local language (referring to the project implementation areas).
