Short Description/ Purpose of the Job
The Development Officer will work within and with the community with community groups, creating understanding about existing sustainable development initiatives. He/she facilitates the emerging of community-led initiatives to improve and sustain the well-being of children and their families. His/her understanding of the community and community facilitation skills are essential to ensure an inclusive approach through which WV is able to work with the poorest to ensure that there is effective community involvement and leadership. You will be working in an area covering a population of 10,000 people and with multiple community groups.
Recruitment Description/ Key Accountabilities
Qualifications and Skills
- Secondary level; preferably a degree in Development, Sociology or related areas;
- Conceptual understanding of and commitment to development work among the people;
- Basic knowledge of aspects of development work including health, education, food security, child protection, disaster management and advocacy.
- Basic understanding of design, monitoring and evaluation
- At least three years previous relevant experience, including at least one year in facilitating development within and with the community.
- Motorbike driving licence.
- Availability to live in the community of Alto-Mu (Maganja da Costa);
- Proficiency in the local language (Nharinga) and Portuguese (spoken and written).
