Short Description/ Purpose of Job

Ayuda en Acción Foundation is an international organization that, since its inception in 1981, has been committed to fighting poverty, inequality, and exclusion on a global scale. Our scope of work spans Africa, Latin America, Asia, and since 2013, also Spain. We operate in territories and communities with the greatest vulnerability and least access to opportunities to exercise their rights with equity and equality.

Since 2019, Ayuda en Acción has been implementing humanitarian projects in Cabo Delgado Province, Mozambique, in response to the internal displacement crisis caused by armed violence in the central/northern regions of the province.

As part of its humanitarian strategy, Ayuda en Acción is implementing shelter construction activities and strengthening the participation of displaced and host communities in relocation processes and planning of life in resettlement centers. For the implementation of these activities, the Foundation is seeking to recruit a Distribution Assistant, based in Pemba–Metuge.

Recruitment Description/ Key Accountabilities

Qualifications and Skills

Position Objective

To implement field activities in the Shelter and WASH sectors in the districts of Cabo Delgado Province.


Main Responsibilities

  • Implement field activities in shelter and WASH sectors under the supervision of the Shelter/WASH Coordinator;

  • Plan and carry out mass distributions;

  • Collect relevant information through focus group discussions;

  • Verify families and households;

  • Identify vulnerabilities and needs;

  • Supervise the work of committees and community activists;

  • Write regular reports on activity progress, and document project experiences and learnings;

  • Coordinate with relevant government technical staff.


Requirements

Knowledge and Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience in humanitarian, development, or social work;

  • Proven strong experience in community mobilization and facilitation;

  • Proven strong experience in list verification and conducting mass distributions;

  • Fluency in Portuguese and Emakhuwa, both spoken and written;

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to produce detailed reports on activities carried out and data collected;

  • Dynamic work profile and ability to work under pressure;

  • Proactive, positive, and responsible work attitude;

  • Computer literacy (Excel, Word);

  • Willingness to work in displacement-affected areas in Cabo Delgado;

  • Strong commitment to core humanitarian principles, gender equality, and child protection.

Required:

  • Portuguese (C2 Professional level);

  • Emakhuwa

  • Makonde


Geographic Mobility

Willingness to travel throughout Mozambique and internationally, with per diem in accordance with the organization’s policies.


Other Requirements

  • Computer skills (Excel, Word);

  • Willingness to work in areas receiving displaced populations in Cabo Delgado;

  • Strong commitment to humanitarian principles, gender equality, and child protection;

  • Experience working with NGOs is a strong advantage;

  • Knowledge of KoBo Toolbox;

  • Knowledge of English and other local languages such as Makonde and Kimwani.

Offer Conditions

  • Start date: Immediate

  • Contract type: Fixed-term, 3 months

  • Duty station: Pemba, Cabo Delgado, with frequent travel to communities in target districts

  • Remuneration: In accordance with Ayuda en Acción’s salary policy
