Qualifications and Skills

Transport Area:

• Drive Jhpiego Mozambique vehicle from the office on official trips, if necessary;
• Ensure that Jhpiego Mozambique’s vehicle is well maintained and vehicle use policies are respected;
• Maintain vehicle mileage and other related records as required;
• Ensure that the office vehicle has necessary vehicle accessories, such as spare tyres, lifesavers, toolbox, first aid kit, etc;
• The driver must carry out a daily check of the vehicle including checking the condition of the tyres, fuel, engine oil level, water level in the radiator, cooling system, windscreen wipers, brakes and clutch, correct battery position, and oil leaks;
• Ensuring that the vehicle is properly and regularly cleaned;
• Supervising and assisting in the loading and unloading of cargo;
• Responsible for monitoring the fuel consumption and refuelling of DOD Programme vehicles and motorbikes;
• Drawing up invoices relating to fuel supplies;
• Responsible for the maintenance and overhaul of DOD Programme vehicles and motorbikes – Nampula;
• Notify the Transport Assistant in good time of any repairs or overhauls that may be necessary;
• Ensure the safety of users in the vehicle and temperature protection,
• Ensure the protection of covid 19 in times of pandemic or other diseases,
• Ensuring that the vehicle is fully occupied,
• At the end of each month, the driver/logistics assistant must produce a report on the kilometres travelled, the amount of fuel consumed and the problems the vehicles have and hand it in to the Programmes Assistant;
• Ensure that the vehicle is always properly locked and parked in a safe place when not in use, such as at night or during the weekend, and that no valuables are left in sight inside the vehicle;
• Undertake other responsibilities as assigned.

Logistics area:

• Provide supply and procurement support in the DOD Programme Office in the case of mobile brigades and always with a consignment note;
  Work closely with the DOD Programme Assistant to ensure a timely and proactive response to stock management rules;
• Picking up consumables from the local warehouse and delivering surgical supplies to the indicated locations as required;
• Support logistics-related work and take on other responsibilities as required.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum Grade 10;
• Professional driving licence;
• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in passenger driving;
• Verbal and written fluency in Portuguese and having a good level of knowledge in English will be an advantage;
• Knowledge of the Highway Code in force;
  Communication, coordination and teamwork skills;
• Ability to work autonomously and responsibly;
• Ability to carry out multiple tasks and effectively manage pressure situations;
• Willingness to travel to the provinces.
