Short Description/ Purpose of Job

Chemonics is receiving CVs from qualified candidates for the five-year Resilient Limpopo Cities Project, which is budgeted at US$ 30 to 35 million and funded by USAID.
The aim of this project is to increase access to safely managed and reliable critical services – namely water, sanitation and solid waste management – for urban residents in the Limpopo River Basin. The project will achieve this through partnerships with municipalities and service delivery organisations, as well as national governments, to:
– Improve the operations and management of water, sanitation and solid waste services, including the management of natural resources and infrastructure;
– Develop institutional capacity for cost-effective service delivery, including a national capacity for policy implementation and municipal support, as well as ensuring a focus on gender, equity and social inclusion;
– Increase and optimise private sector participation in or investment in service delivery and associated infrastructure; and
– Improve the management of public finances for the sustainability of improvements in service delivery.

Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree in relevant field and 7 years’ progressively responsible experience in one or more of the following 

areas listed above.
– Experience of working in the Southern African region and/or Botswana, Mozambique and/or South Africa on similar issues.
– Excellent oral and written English skills are required. Knowledge of local languages is strongly preferred.
– Experience with USAID or other donor-funded programmes preferred.
– Ability to build strong working relationships, mentor and motivate staff and colleagues.
– Demonstrated leadership, versatility and integrity.
