SAVE THE CHILDREN INTERNATIONAL (SCI), a non-profit humanitarian organisation with a focus on child welfare, is recruiting candidates for the position below:

Food Security and Livelihoods Technical Leader based in Quelimane

The Food Security and Livelihoods Technical Lead will be responsible for the technical functions of the project implementation related to livelihoods activities in the assigned districts, under the supervision of the Deputy Director (DCoP) of the project coordinating the Technical component.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Master’s degree or higher in agriculture, agronomy or a closely related field

Experience and Skills

Essential

  • At least seven (7) years of experience in designing, implementing or supporting livelihood programmes in Mozambique, preferably in Zambezia province, is highly desirable;
  • Strong technical skills in nutrition-sensitive approach to building resilience, developing market systems, diversifying livelihoods and sustainable social and behaviour change;
  • Track record of providing technical assistance to government in the context of strengthening the capacity of livelihoods programmes through government systems, service delivery and communication processes and models for behaviour change in low-income countries;
  • Solid experience in developing tools and training materials on effective behaviour change communication;
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, experience in collaboration, creativity and willingness to innovate;
  • Familiarity with and understanding of USAID or other donor policies and procedures.
  • Experience implementing community-based projects;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to lead and work effectively in a team.
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluating indicators in the field of food and nutrition security;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Portuguese and English are a must;
  • Ability and willingness to travel frequently.

Desirable

  • Experience in teamwork and collaboration.
  • Fluency in Elomue or Senna languages.
  • Previous experience of working in Zambezia.
