Short Description/ Purpose of Job

SAVE THE CHILDREN INTERNATIONAL (SCI), a non-profit humanitarian organisation focused on child welfare, is recruiting candidates for the following position:

Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Lead – Maputo (with regular travel to the provinces)

Save the Children is seeking a Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Lead to head the upcoming USAID-funded Green Income Activity in Mozambique, a five-year project valued between $25 million and $50 million. This initiative aims to empower communities to reap the benefits of living in nature in key biodiversity conservation areas, enabling local populations to benefit from nature-based revenue-sharing schemes. Besides enforcing measures to deter and penalise the destruction of natural resources and habitats, the Activity will focus on the tangible incentives of living with nature, aiming to catalyse market and community benefits from human-wildlife coexistence within conservation areas, buffer zones, and key biodiversity corridors.

The Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Lead will provide strategic leadership and technical guidance across programme activities to ensure gender and social inclusion are integrated. The Lead will develop, adapt, and apply strategies, guidelines, and tools to ensure that gender equality and diversity are appropriately analysed, identified, and addressed within programmes and policies, providing strategic support to the programme team to build and enhance their capacities. The Lead will work closely with programme and monitoring and evaluation teams to develop and implement gender- and social inclusion-sensitive monitoring systems and mechanisms.

This is a key position, subject to USAID approval, and contingent upon project award and funding. The programme is expected to start in mid-to-late 2025.
