Objectives
The Import-Export specialist is responsible for executing and managing import and export operations for a country, ensuring compliance with all applicable customs regulations.
Activities
- Understanding of internal controls and how to address gaps in process controls, import and export compliance rules and regulations.
- Lead & implement the analytical requirements (Financial KPI’s, Duty spend, import processing time).
- Audit, track, and monitor Customs clearing agents’ performance.
- Ensures that paperwork and transactions are completed accurately, in a timely manner, and according to trade laws.
- Oversees a team of Import/Export Specialist who are responsible for the flow of goods into and out of a country.
- Examine various documents including invoices, bills of lading, and shipping statements to ensure compliance with federal and foreign regulations governing the shipment, receipt, and documentation of imported/exported products.
- Communicate with customs officials as appropriate to obtain release of incoming freight and resolve delays.
- Establish, monitor, and revise policies, procedures and service standards for customs clearance operations as dictated and allowed by applicable regulations.
- Identify areas of concern in Schlumberger import and export processes through monitoring of team performance against standards, regular audit of shipment documents and accounting, and periodic reviews.
- Review, obtain and maintain License Rules applied in country.
- Ensure sufficient and sustainable solution for maintaining adequate record keeping per country’s statutory laws. Maintain detailed document record-keeping and reporting methods.
- Develop and manage comprehensive Import/Export compliance SOPs and policies manual.
- Manage, update, and maintain Customs Compliance Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) Database.
- Ensure all customs files are reconciled as required by laws of the jurisdiction.
- Complies with all Schlumberger global and local procedures applicable to the job function.

Requirements
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Logistics or equivalent.
- 0-2 years experience, preferable in oil & gas.
- Candidate willing to relocate to Pemba.
- Familiar with Microsoft Office products.
- Can work in a high-pressure environment, learn quickly, and adapts to new problems and situations.
- Must be a team player, able to get along with individuals from other groups in the organization, and a good communicator.
- Good English written and verbal communication skills essential.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Honesty and high ethics, determination, active listening, confidence and focused.
- Available to start as soon as possible.
