Short Description/ Purpose of Job

Under the overall guidance of the Head of the Communication and Information Management Unit and under the direct supervision of the Information Management Officer the National IMO will undertake the following duties:

contribute to and assist the management and information dissemination capacities, ensuring that humanitarian partners, local and international media, policy makers and governmental and non-governmental actors have timely and relevant information on the humanitarian situation and response in the various affected parts of the country.

Required Skills and Experience:

Education:

An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Information Management, information systems, GIS, or related field with 2 years of relevant experience. .

OR

A First-level University degree in any of these fields, in combination with four (4) additional years of          qualifying work experience will be given due consideration in lieu of the Advanced University degree. 

Additional study related to technology for information management (e.g., GIS certification) is highly desirable.

Experience:   

  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience with master’s degree and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in information management, information systems, data management, geographic information systems &     mapping, and/ordata visualization, is required.
  • In-depth knowledgeof industry-standard GIS and Graphicsdesign software, including, not limited to Adobe Illustrator, ArcGIS, InDesign, Photoshop, and Power BI is required. Experience managing information in disaster responseor complex emergency settings(preferably in a hardshipDuty Station) is required.
  • At least one year of experience working on humanitarian IM-related projects in Mozambique is desirable.
  • Relevant experience within the UN system or an international organization is desirable. Experience managing common operational datasets is desirable.
  • Experience in working on Humanitarian Needs Overview (HNO) and Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP) is desirable.
  • Experience undertaking missions to support Information Management in areas/countries where populations affected by humanitarian crisis is desirable.

 

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Portuguese is required. 
  • Knowledge of one or more local languages is desirable.
