Job Description:

  • Manage the evaluation process of the new area of intervention (the affected site), following LEAP and other humanitarian evaluation standards, as well as their instruments.
  • Manage the disaster response evaluation process together with the local government, including other partners, ensuring that the evaluation teams understand the necessary data requirements.
  • Preparing the indicator tracking tables for the reports, collating the data provided by the emergency project team and members for quality reporting.
  • Manage the project planning process for the affected locality(ies), which includes appropriate community and government involvement, while respecting global standards and technical approaches.
  • Work with emergency technical teams to adapt technical approaches, logical frameworks and advise on appropriate indicators for local use, using information from community involvement.
  • Carry out periodic checks on activities to verify that they are proceeding as planned; report on these activities to highlight successes and concerns.
  • Lead the preparation of Most Significant Change stories, using qualitative monitoring approaches to identify successes that can be used for communication and marketing purposes.

Qualifications and Skills

Position Requirements:

  • Previous relevant experience of at least one year, including exposure to community emergencies or development work and with a strong intercultural sense.
  • At least 3 years of previous work experience; experience in REFEIÇÃO work preferred.
  • Experience in data entry and working with data analysis; experience with statistical software is a plus.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in Portuguese and English and ability to prepare and edit high-quality reports.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel; knowledge of statistical software such as SPSS and Epi-Info is an advantage.
  • Ability to communicate in a simple way that can be understood by non-technical people
  • Applicant must be willing to do field work, be prepared to travel for long periods of time in difficult terrain, in harsh and demanding conditions, and be willing to live and work in a very rural context.
