Short Description/ Purpose of Job
The MEAL Officer will work in the MEAL unit and will be responsible for the implementation of the MEAL system for humanitarian and development programs in Mozambique. The role will support the implementation of MEAL strategy, policies and practices. This will be through supporting the design of program monitoring systems, strengthening the capacity of the team in analysing and disseminating quality data, coordinating information management and information systems. The MEAL officer is responsible for liaising with beneficiary groups, ensuring the establishment of culturally appropriate and accessible feedback mechanisms in communities, ensuring compliance with SCI MEAL standards and program quality. This position will play a key role in expanding and improving the quality of Save the Children’s programs to increase impact and enable positive change for children in Mozambique.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Development Studies, Anthropology, Sociology, Social Sciences, Statistics or other relevant field.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Essential
- Minimum of 2 years of past MEAL work experience implementing effective M&E systems;
- Demonstrable track record in data tracking and evaluation, with the ability to support staff and partners in M&E methodology, analysis and dissemination of information to a variety of stakeholders;
- Computer skills, primarily in Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
- Software skills in the use of mobile data collection (Kobo or other)
- Excellent planning, coordination and communication skills, with the ability to organise a substantial workload consisting of a variety of complex tasks and responsibilities
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, with experience working in a multicultural, multi-location value-oriented team;
- Willingness to work and travel in often difficult environments
- Committed to Save the Children International’s values and principles, in particular a good understanding of the SC’s mandate and approach and the ability to ensure you continue our support
- High level of Portuguese writing and speaking skills and knowledge of the English language
- Ability to manage complex workloads and stressful situations
- Good personal organizational skills, including time management and ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
Desirable
- Previous experience working in humanitarian programs;
- Knowledge of at least one of the local languages;
- Experience working in M&E in the areas of food safety and health.
