Job Description:

  • Conduct comprehensive needs assessments, liaising with other relevant sectors such as the district programme, protection, community committees and local government services.
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure that the beneficiary selection process prioritises the most vulnerable (e.g. the elderly, people with disabilities, women, child-headed households, etc.).
  • Ensure that all education, water, sanitation and shelter equipment, including tarpaulins, ropes, axes, machetes, hygiene kits, school supplies/uniforms, etc. entrusted to WV are delivered according to plans.
  • Establish clear guidelines and detailed standards specific to the operational context, in line with emergency standards and long-term durable shelter solutions.
  • Develop and update appropriate NFI distribution approaches for the response, taking into account local context, gender, climate and environmental protection needs.
  • Review, identify and monitor NFIs needs and initiate responses to fill gaps in coordination with key government teams and other partners.
  • Mobilise communities for the distribution of basic necessities, ensuring prior preparations for the efficient distribution of emergency stocks in accordance with regulations.
  • Ensure an effective information system to produce timely and accurate distribution reports for WV and other key stakeholders.

Qualifications and Skills

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or preferably, in Social Sciences, Management, Leadership and other related fields;
  • At least 3 years’ experience in construction management and infrastructure planning. Proven previous experience in community emergency or development work and a strong intercultural sense.
  • Proven professional experience in supervising construction projects and knowledge of developing bills of quantities;
  • Solid knowledge of technical guidelines and humanitarian standards related to shelters;
  • Experience of working in the context of displacement and managing humanitarian projects is highly desirable.
  • It also requires a candidate who can carry out field work, who is prepared to travel for long periods of time over difficult terrain, in harsh and demanding conditions, and who is willing to live and work in a very rural context.
