Médecins Sans Frontières is a humanitarian organization established in 1971, present in Mozambique for more than 30 years. Currently, MSF Switzerland in Mozambique works in the area of Global Health in the province of Nampula and intends to recruit for its office: 2 (two) Qualified Translator(s) Work place: One for Maputo and one for Nametil – Mogovolas District (Nampula)

General Objective: Carry out the professional translation activities and delegated functions in order to ensure adequate representation and translation of MSF’s activities and core values

Duties
Perform professional activities of written and oral interpretation and translation (in the following languages English/Portuguese/Makua, vice-versa) according to the supervisor’s specialization (e.g. Departments: Medical, Logistics, Operations, Finance/HR), ensuring medical confidentiality, neutrality and respect
Perform administrative tasks required by the supervisor (scheduling meetings, taking minutes and following up patient care)
Provide necessary feedback to supervisor after discussions and negotiations
Assist in report writing and ensure that all meeting reports are recorded and translated documents are filed appropriately
Guide the Supervisor on effective methods of culturally sensitive communication and inform the team of foreign workers about local customs, traditions, etc. that will help in better communication and understanding of the context
Among other activities according to the job description

Requirements
Degree in English/Portuguese Translation and Interpretation
Knowledge and mastery of document translation, interpreting services, linguistic review among others
Previous work experience of at least 2 (two) years in a similar position with NGOs is an advantage
Proficiency in Portuguese and English language(s)
Knowledge of the local languages of Nampula Province is an advantage (for applicants for the position of Nametil)
Computer literacy (Word, Excel and Internet)
Profile: Flexible, results oriented, cooperative, team work, committed and able to manage stress.
