Short Description/ Purpose of Job

1. The Government of Mozambique has received a loan from the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) to finance the Secondary Education Support Project. The aim of the project is to support the Government of Mozambique in increasing access to quality secondary education by building and equipping a secondary school, supplying furniture and equipment, as well as training teachers, in order to meet the challenges and demand related to this sector in Cabo Delgado Province. Making schools more accessible and improving infrastructure conditions is fundamental to increasing girls’ access to and retention in secondary education.

2. Therefore, the Ministry of Education and Human Development
(MINEDH) intends to use part of the funds to hire one (1) technician for the Project Implementation Unit (PIU): a full-time Secretary.

3.6.1 Main responsibilities

Organising meetings at the request of the Project Coordinator and supporting
Project staff.
Confirm/review/make travel arrangements for the missions of the Project Coordinator and Project staff. Ensure that hotel bookings, transport, etc. are available.
Answering telephone calls for project staff. Processing incoming mail and checking outgoing correspondence.

Digitise letters, memos, reports, minutes, etc., in the prescribed formats, ensuring correct spelling and checking the consistency of the information. Create and maintain thematic files and reference materials. Archive copies of digitised materials.

3.6.2 Qualifications


Secondary school certificate with advanced training in Commercial Secretarial or equivalent. Seven (7) years’ professional experience in the secretarial field, some of which has been gained in an international bilateral/multilateral organisation.
-Ability to work as part of a team and to exercise flexibility in the duties assigned.
– Fluency in Portuguese and good knowledge of English, both written and spoken;
– Knowledge of computers, word processing programmes and spreadsheets.
