The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is seeking to recruit an Economist for its office in Maputo.

 

Duties

The consultant’s main activities will consist of:
a) Assessing and monitoring economic developments, economic policies and structural reforms related to IMF activities in Mozambique, including the preparation of periodic technical notes in English;
(b) interaction with government authorities, bilateral and multilateral donors, representatives of the private sector, civil society and the media
c) support and monitor institutional capacity building activities and technical assistance provided by the IMF to the Government of Mozambique
d) manage economic indicators databases and conduct econometric analysis in these and other databases
e) In economic research.

Highly motivated, proactive candidates with high sense of ethics and responsibility, who are able to work independently but in a team spirit, and who have strong technical and diplomatic skills to interact effectively with local and external IMF stakeholders as well as IMF headquarters staff, should send a letter of interest addressed to the IMF Resident Representative in Mozambique together with a Curriculum Vitae and copies of academic qualifications to brangel@imf.org.

Qualifications required:
– Degree in Economics or related area, preferably with a Master’s degree;
– Solid knowledge of macroeconomics, econometrics and the financial sector;
– Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience;
– Oral and written fluency in Portuguese and English;
– Advanced proficiency in Excel, in database management software
