The Purpose of the Position
The purpose of the Development Officer position is to work within and with the community with community groups, creating understanding about existing sustainable development initiatives. S/he facilitates the emergence of community-led initiatives to improve and sustain the well-being of children and their families. His understanding of the community and community facilitation skills are essential to ensure an inclusive approach through which WV is able to work with the poorest to ensure there is effective community engagement and leadership. S/he will work in an area covering a population of 10,000 people and with multiple community groups.
Requirements:
- High School Level with a preference for Bachelor's Degree.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
- 125 motorbike driving licence.
- At least three years experience in working on community development projects, including at least one year in facilitating development within and with the community.
- Basic knowledge of aspects of development work including health, education, food security, child protection, disaster management and advocacy.
- Mastery of Sena and Portuguese (spoken and written).
- Willingness to live in the community
