Short Description/ Purpose of Job

Role purpose: Design, plan and manage the Vodacom Mozambique Foundation strategy and programmes as the Foundation’s Executive Director, aligned with the SDGs, as well as with the Vodafone and Vodacom Group strategic approach and priorities. The role will be responsible for managing and overseeing the Foundation’s staff, operations, engagements and communications, focusing on the impact, scale and sustainability of its intervention. Reports on Foundation’s results to Vodacom Mozambique Executive Committee and Board of Directors, as well as to Vodafone Group Foundation and Vodacom Group functions and committees.

Recruitment Description/ Key Accountabilities

Key Accountabilities And Decision Ownership

  • Designing and delivering corporate social investment (CSI) programmes that are impactful and sustainable, framed by Vodacom Mozambique’s purpose and strategy and the SDGs
  • Identifying areas of high social impact for Vodacom Mozambique’s CSI involvement and develop adequate interventions
  • Identifying best practices and areas of high social impact and drive Vodacom Mozambique’s adherence and compliance
  • Building strong partnerships with civil society organizations, government institutions and the private sector
  • Leveraging funding for Vodacom’s initiatives from other private sector and donors
  • Ensuring accountability and full engagement with all relevant stakeholders
  • Ensuring correct identification and management of risks and opportunities
  • Ensuring compliance with local laws, the company’s policies and the Vodafone Foundation operating standards and policies

Core Competencies, Knowledge And Experience

  • Minimum 8 years experience with corporate social investment, philanthropy and social responsibility
  • Skilled in the project management life cycle, including: 1) design and budgeting; 2) planning and execution; 3) M&E and reporting
  • Skilled in stakeholder engagement and partnerships brokering
  • Experienced with the non-profit sector (NGOs, Foundations, development partners)
  • Skilled in corporate communications (desired)
  • Knowledgeable about the Education and Science & Technology sectors and agendas in Mozambique (desired)

Must Have Technical / Professional Qualifications

  • Honours degree in development, international relations, social sciences or management
  • Fluency in English
  • Training in project management (desired)
  • Training in M&E (desired)

  • Improved levels of visibility of Vodacom’s charitable and social investment efforts
  • Improved levels of employee engagement in Foundation’s activities and volunteering work
  • Improved Monitoring and Evaluation framework and procedures to bring tangible and communicable outcomes
  • Foundation’s strategy and annual operational designed and approved
