Short Description/ Purpose of Job

In order to respond to the humanitarian health needs of internally displaced people and host communities in Cabo Delgado, Save the Children proposes to work with the Ministry of Health at provincial, district and community level, providing and supporting the provision of Basic Primary Health Care, while also strengthening local and national health systems so that they are better able to absorb the influx of new patients in the long term, both in host communities and in repatriated areas.

In this sense, on the essential premises of the project recently funded by the BHA, exploring a complementary perspective between premiums that strengthen child survival actions aimed especially at children under 6 months and their mothers, a pilot project called MAMI (management of young babies and mothers at nutritional risk under six months) was developed.

Since the beginning of this year, Save the Children has been reinforcing a complete set of healthcare pillars and services in the three existing RHFs and around fifteen mobile health brigade (MHB) sites, integrating and adapting the MAMI pathways into different services (post-natal care, at Risk Child Consultation, Sick Child Consultation and Healthy Child Consultation). In addition, the strengthening of synergies between the systems, namely the community health subsystem and the primary health care of the public system, the establishment of solid referral pathways in the reference health units (HU) and in the target communities in their catchment area; the allocation of essential resources and medical equipment, consumables and tools, as well as the empowerment of CHWs and health care providers in all essential services that provide care for 6-month-old children and their mothers.
