Short Description/ Purpose of Job
Under the overall supervision of the Head of Unit for ENRCCR and reporting to the Project Board including the donor (KOICA), the Project Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management and decision-making for the effective and efficient achievement of the two Project Outcomes and respective outputs and activities. The Project Manager’s primary responsibility is to ensure that the Project produces the results specified in the multi-year and annual workplans, to the required standard of quality and within the specified constraints of time and cost.

- Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in management, social policy, public policy, economics, development studies or a related area.
- A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience will be given due consideration in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- Minimum 5 years (with master’s degree) or 7 years (with bachelor’s degree) of progressively responsible relevant experience at the national or international level in project management and in providing financial management advisory services.
Required skills:
- Relevant years of experience working with donors;
- Extensive experience in project development and management is required;
- Solid experience working with government and development partners in the field on disaster risk reduction and social cohesion is required.
Desired skills:
- Excellent knowledge of and resilience building experience in Africa, including conflict-sensitivity, human rights, rights of children, youth and women, is an asset;
- Proven experience in development programming, including good understanding of UN programming modalities and rules and regulations, is preferred;
- Strong experience working on disaster risk reduction and resilience building including the domestication of the Sendai Framework at the regional, is preferred;
- Working experience with KOICA would be an asset;
- Experience working within UN agencies and intergovernmental organizations and field experience is an asset;
- Experience in the use of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc) and advance knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages, experience in handling of web-based Management systems.
Language:
- Fluency in English and Portuguese.
