Short Description/ Purpose of Job
The World Bank Country Office in Mozambique is seeking to hire a highly motivated and seasoned professional with significant experience in analytic work drawing on diverse teams and strong analytical and interpersonal skills to work as a Research Analyst based in Maputo, Mozambique.
S/he will work under the leadership of the Practice Manager for Macroeconomics, Trade, and Investment (MTI) covering Eastern and Southern Africa and closely work with the Lead Economist covering the Mozambique Country Management Unit (CMU).
The duties and responsibilities include i) Monitor developments in the core countries part of the Mozambique CMU, and provide support to research on economic issues relevant to the MTI program ii) Collect, maintain and analyze databases on the real, fiscal, external, monetary sectors and prices iii) Provide day-to-day technical support to the MTI team based in Maputo (policy briefs, PPTs, and quick on-demand analysis), working closely with and in consultation with the MTI teams in the Mozambique CMU iv) Prepare briefs and analytical notes and contribute to analytical reports v) Support the preparation of the Country Policy and Institutional Assessment (CPIA) vi) Participate in the design, preparation and dissemination of analytical work programs in the Mozambique CMU, including Economic Updates, Public Expenditure Reviews (PERs), and Country Economic Memorandum (CEM) vii) Participate and support policy dialogue with the Governments in the Mozambique CMU viii) Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders including NGOs, civil society, universities/think tanks, and international organizations ix) Work across countries as needed as part of the global MTI team.

Selection Criteria
The successful candidate should hold :
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s (preferred) degree in economics, with at least two years of relevant experience.
- Proven strong conceptual, analytical and evaluative skills in economic policy issues and data analysis.
- Strong data management, visualization, analysis, and reporting skills.
- Ability to interpret and communicate statistical information in a clear and analytically rigorous manner.
- Familiarity with econometric software such as E-Views, STATA, or other statistical packages and MS Office programs, including Excel.
- High level of personal and professional integrity and Strong ability to function well in a multi-cultural environment and work in teams.
