Short Description/ Purpose of Job

1. CONTEXT

Ipas Mozambique is a non-governmental, non-profit organisation operating in Mozambique since 2017. It is headquartered in Maputo, with provincial offices in Nampula, Zambézia, and Niassa. In collaboration with the Ministry of Health, it undertakes activities aimed at expanding access to sexual and reproductive health services, safe abortion care, and GBV services by improving the access environment, strengthening health systems, generating and disseminating new knowledge, and bolstering social support networks for women and girls of reproductive age.

OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION

As part of its activities implementation, Ipas seeks to recruit Research, Monitoring, and Evaluation Officers immediately. These officers will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing all monitoring and evaluation (M&E) activities and events in their designated country. The position provides technical support to M&E staff conducting research-related activities and supervises the overall data management system at the country office, ensuring data collection, entry, cleaning, and analysis.

The Research, Monitoring, and Evaluation Officer will make regular field visits and maintain consistent communication with service providers to support data requirements. The role involves supervising archived research activities, analysing logbook data, monitoring site and provider progress reports, and verifying data accuracy and trends.

Recruitment Description/ Key Accountabilities

Qualifications and Skills


● Postgraduate University Degree or equivalent with relevant work experience in development studies, social development, gender studies or equivalent;
● Expert in women empowerment and gender equality.
● Strong writing and communication skills;
● Expertise in qualitative and quantitative data analysis
● Computer literacy (minimum MS Word, Excel, SPSS/STATA).
● Must be proficient in English and Portuguese.


General Professional Experience


● 5-10 years’ experience in social development and conducting gender studies and analysis, with publications or field reports on gender issues;
● Specific experience and expertise on gender analysis, gender mainstreaming and women’s participation;
● Extensive experience working on national gender policies in developing countries;
● Experience of working in Mozambique countryside areas is essential, other field experience being desirable; –
● Organisational development and capacity building experience;
● Demonstrated experience in managing a team of experts;
● Up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge and experience of development, policies, instruments, and facilities. Specific professional experience;
● Demonstrated experience in programmes related to the following sectors such as education, agriculture, climate change, women empowerment, health, environment among others.
● Proven experiences in conducting training and gender analysis internationally and in Mozambique.
● Background on research and adequate experience in designing, implementing gender analysis projects as well as conducting interactive training.
