Short Description/ Purpose of Job
ChildFund is a member of a Consortium for the USAID Improved Maternal, Newborn, Child Health, Immunization, and Nutrition Activity (the “Activity”) in Mozambique. The Activity aims to continue supporting the Government of Mozambique to improve maternal, newborn, and child health – including increased routine immunization and reduced malnutrition – to decrease deaths from preventable causes and help women, newborns, and children thrive in central and northern Mozambique (Nampula, Zambezia, Niassa and/or Tete). ChildFund will specifically focus on Intermediate Result (IR) 1: Increased adoption of healthy Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH), immunization, and nutrition behaviors, and strengthening of local organizations’ capacity in acquiring and managing funding, implementing quality technical interventions, and monitoring and evaluating their impact.
ChildFund is seeking qualified candidates for Senior Technical Advisor, Community Health. The hiring of this position is contingent on the award.
Recruitment Description/ Key Accountabilities
Qualifications and Skills
ESSENTIAL ROLES
- Technical leadership of ChildFund’s programmatic interventions, thus leading the design, implementation, and evaluation of all technical deliverables on Community Health and Early Childhood Development.
- Support Project Leadership by overcoming technical challenges and impediments to ensure the project’s results are achieved.
- Represent the project on technical matters to USAID, the host country government, sub-grantees, and project stakeholders.
- Remain alert and responsive to any child safeguarding risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills which will enable you to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the child safeguarding policy and procedures, and conduct yourself in a manner consistent with the Child Safeguarding Policy.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
- At least 8 years of overall professional experience in implementing developmental and/or humanitarian projects in Community Health or Early Childhood Development, with a focus on MNCH and Nutrition programs, in particular.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the role of a technical advisor or project manager/coordinator for projects funded by USAID and other donors, with a demonstrated track record of expertise in Community Health or Early Childhood Development.
- Familiarity with USAID regulations, guidelines, and reporting requirements.
- Organized, detail-oriented, team leader, self-starter, and results-oriented individual.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and/or implement multiple workflows simultaneously, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
- Strong computer and digital literacy skills, with familiarity in using Microsoft Office suite applications (particularly Word, PowerPoint, Zoom, Teams, etc.).
- Native or advanced proficiency in Portuguese and English.
- Ability to travel in the country for at least 25% of the project life cycle.
EDUCATION
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as public health, early childhood development, or any related social science, master’s degree preferred.
