Purpose of the Position
Under the general guidance of the Director of Young Africa Mozambique, the Manager of the Dondo Centre will carry out their work according to the programme framework and implementation requirements in managing the Centre and Projects.

Job Description – Manager of the Young Africa Agri-Tech Centre, Dondo with Project Management Skills

  • Implement the Mission, Goals, and Objectives of YAAT and Young Africa Mozambique;
  • Take overall responsibility for the operations of the Young Africa Agri-Tech Training Centre: programmes, organisation, budgetary control, and financial supervision;
  • Prepare and implement the policies of YAAT and Young Africa Mozambique;
  • Develop project proposals and reports for donors;
  • Prepare and submit reports to the Director of Young Africa Mozambique;
  • Collaborate with Young Africa International and other Young Africa centres across Africa;
  • Coordinate the implementation of all programmes at YAAT;
  • Prepare narrative reports for donors and the Director;
  • Report the progress of YAAT activities and Projects to the Director of Young Africa Mozambique;
  • Support the Programme Officer in strictly following the plans;
  • Work with the Financial Manager to control the financial budgets of the Projects;
  • Plan and organise capacity-building programmes for YAAT staff in specific areas;
  • Develop fundraising projects for YAAT in coordination with the Director of Young Africa Mozambique;
  • Maintain public relations with ministries, embassies, local authorities, industries, and networks of national and international NGOs;
  • Increase project income and enhance the self-sustainability of the centre;
  • Guide the farm manager in planting various crops across more than 50 hectares annually;
  • Ensure the maintenance of field equipment (tractors, ploughs, harrows, etc.);
  • In the acquisition of equipment, follow the procurement requirements set by the donor and form an evaluation team;
  • Assist in improving the control of institutional assets and inventories;
  • Promote greater proactivity, ensuring timely responses to emails and adherence to deadlines;
  • Support the finance team in improving the cash control system (all income to a single cash entry point and ensuring returns on investment);
  • Monitor the franchisees in their businesses, creating a positive work environment;
  • Discuss and master the job descriptions of all YAAT employees;
  • Support staff in strictly adhering to their plans;
  • Promote performance evaluations for staff and assign goals;
  • Manage existing human resources and make new hires if necessary, with support from the Financial Manager;
  • Cooperate with the Fiscal Council to achieve the Organisation’s objectives;
  • Other tasks assigned by superiors or tasks deemed essential for the centre and work.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Management or related fields;
  • 5 to 7 years of experience working in similar positions, with experience in project development and tangible examples of completed projects;
  • Ability to work independently and within a team;
  • Higher education in Agro-Livestock is an advantage;
  • Certification in Category A driving licence is an advantage;
  • Minimum light vehicle driving licence;
  • Reside in the City of Dondo or Beira District;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Proficient in Portuguese and English;
  • Strong computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Email).
